Internet Privacy Statement
At University Lutheran Church, we are committed to protecting the privacy of anyone who uses our web site or who contacts us by email. We also wish to protect the privacy of our congregation members. We operate this web site with the understanding that it is public, recognizing that once information is posted here it is released into a wide domain over which we have very little control.
Network transaction records
The company that hosts our web site collects the IP address of each visitor's Internet service provider. It does this automatically for all web sites it hosts. However, this information does not in any way reveal your identity while visiting our site.
Newsletter distribution
Our web site includes information about our congregational newsletter and provides a means to request being added to the newsletter’s monthly electronic distribution. If you make such a request, we will only honor it after we have verified that you are a member of our church.
Email communications
The only method by which University Lutheran receives personal information from its web site visitors is through the content of voluntarily submitted email inquiries and requests. If you contact us by email, we will collect your email address so that we can respond to you, but we will not add your email address to any distribution lists or record it for any other purposes unless you ask us to do so.
University Lutheran does not sell, share, or rent any email address or personal information it receives through this web site.
Congregational information
University Lutheran staff and volunteers have access to personal information and email addresses of its congregation members on a need-to-know basis in order to perform their duties. Besides the following exceptions, none of that information is published on this site unless specifically requested by a member.
Exceptions:
- For staff, we list names, email and office phone numbers. It is important that people be able to contact the staff through normal office channels.
- For adult members, we often list names when they are a contact for some group or activity at church or on the web site. We do not list their email addresses unless they have specifically given permission (or asked us). We do not list phone numbers. It is assumed that our members have the church directory or can call the office for phone numbers.
- For youth, we list only first names but no email addresses or phone numbers.
University Lutheran has a printed member and ministry directory with names, addresses, email, etc., which is only available to its members. It is periodically distributed in print at the church. To request a copy or to add your information to this directory, contact the office.
Photographs
University Lutheran does not display any identifiable photographs of people on our web site (or in any of our publications distributed to the general public) unless a release form has been signed by the person(s) appearing in the photograph. Photographs of children are not published unless a similar release has been signed by a parent or legal guardian.

The University Lutheran web site contains links to other sites, operated by third parties, that we think may be of interest to you. University Lutheran expects that these third parties will follow appropriate privacy standards and policies, but it is not responsible for the actions of those parties, the content of their web sites, or any products or services they may offer.
Cookies
Our web site does not use "cookies," the small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. However, cookies may be used by the third party sites to which we link. University Lutheran expects that any site using cookies will follow appropriate privacy standards and policies, but it is not responsible for the actions of those parties.

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you can be aware of what information we collect and how we use it.
